THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

WILL HAVE DEMONSTRATED THESE COMPETENCIES:

Experiential:

  • Human Resources Management OR
  • Human Resources and Recruiting experience (preferable) OR
  • Several years of senior recruiting experience with a known search firm

Educational:

  • University degree or equivalent combination of business management experience and education

Hard skills:

  • Exceptional English language skills with a very strong vocabulary in order to describe the client in the most unique and marketable fashion but from an employer’s perspective.
  • MS Office Computer skills in order to maintain the integrity of the client files, templates and correspondence. This would include sufficient technical abilities to troubleshoot office problems or to assist clients in opening / saving / retrieving files etc.
  • Interviewing skills in order to glean the relevant facts from the client, efficiently, accurately and in some cases without the client being able to articulate answers or to provide information easily.
  • Interpersonal skills which will provide the customer with the ability to ‘connect’ with the Agency Owner and establish a relationship based upon trust and mutual respect
  • Client management abilities to enable the franchisee to provide the client with ongoing value in order to maintain referrals and revenue
  • Management abilities to create effective service and governance processes as well as hiring and managing staff, should the workflow require administrative or résumé construction assistance
  • Networking and relationship management abilities to create opportunities for growing the business or creating potential new agencies

Soft’ Skills or behavioural competencies:

  • Ethics in order to earn the trust of the client and of the Franchisor
  • Salesmanship to convert tentative customer enquiries and ‘price shopping’ into firm appointments and work
  • Business sense in order to manage costs and cash flow effectively
  • A strong work ethic which will support the work necessary to grow the business and manage it in the absence of support staff and when circumstances demand sacrifice
  • An entrepreneurial spirit to achieve results. A sincere and genuine desire to help others will provide the intrinsic motivation to do the best work possible for the client.
  • Intuitiveness allows for more effective interviewing as well as the ability to ‘sense’ when a client has more to say and therefore when more questions need to be asked
  • A broad work experience creates work which is based upon intimate knowledge of what employers are looking for and the methods which are effective for both applicant and employer
  • A proactive approach will ensure an effective balance is created between managing the daily business and creating a sustainable, vibrant and growing business

The Agency Owner / Senior Consultant requires enough experience to have mastered the above competencies, as well as a strong connection to the youth entering the business environment. In other words, an effective balance of employment seasoning and youthful enthusiasm / relevance and understanding is ideal. Age is not important - the balance is!
